Our Client’s brief for this project was to provide a design for the redevelopment of the former coastguard radio house and site taking full advantage of the commanding location with picturesque views over Porthminster Beach, St. Ives, and beyond.
The proposals are for a private residence consisting of two levels of guest and communal accommodation set over ground level with private bedroom suites set within two sub-ground levels terraced into the hillside – forged in response to the protected landscape setting.
The new house is oriented towards the beach with internal spaces formed around primary and secondary apertures framing views to the historic St. Ives town and harbour.
Traditionally referenced materials notably white-washed local stonework to the exterior, are to feature throughout.
