Our client’s desire for a long house drawn upon memories of Japan underpinned this design for a lightweight summer pavilion that ‘floated on the grass’ and potentially could be moved around the site.
A key proposition developed with the client was for a house that would have minimal impact upon the ground and feature itself as an object in plurality – detached yet in sympathy with its surroundings – a remote site of carob trees and meadows.
We designed a Japanese inspired pavilion, pre-fabricated with inter-changeable elements and with the capacity to be relocated around the site – a floating stage set adrift on a sea of grass.
