Villa AmpéliSampieri, Sicily, Italy

From stone ruins a reconstructed former wine palmento reimagined as a luxury boutique holiday rental with a new contemporary designed side wing and courtyard, set within agricultural surroundings and a welcoming sea breeze.

The practice undertook the restoration and redevelopment of a former farmhouse and wine palmenti located near to the seaside village of Sampieri on the south eastern coast of Sicily.

The project works consisted of the resuscitation of the historic stone building along with alterations and extensions to provide five bedrooms and two living areas set alongside a new courtyard area. An extensive detailed fit-out has been undertaken internally. A swimming pool along with ancillary out-buildings feature adjacent to the house set within the near landscaping.

Locally sourced materials feature throughout with the new contemporary designed elements carefully aligned to compliment the historic built form and context.
