Wilton Crescent - private house.
Westminster, London

We were engaged to undertake planning proposals for extensive alterations and additions to a Grade II listed property in Wilton Crescent, Westminster.

Our brief consisted of extending the property to include an additional basement level to accommodate a swimming pool, a mansard roof extension, a new lift housing and extension to the rear, in conjunction with contemporary designed internal modifications throughout, befitting the return of the property to a single family residence.

The property consisted of three separate maisonettes arranged over six storeys. Substantial internal works were proposed to be undertaken to amalgamate all the levels. The new proposals were formed on and around the sensitive restoration of the main staircase and stairwell. Restoration works were proposed to extend to refurbishment of the main façade, and reinstatement of various period architectural features within the house.

A new contemporary fit-out was proposed to be set alongside the retained and restored historical features and fabric. The principle areas at ground and first floor were proposed to be opened out to form modern expansive spaces at each of these levels, featuring contemporary designed features and detailing.

Planning consent for the basement addition and contemporary designed internal modifications was granted in March 2014.
